About Joe
Joe Girardi is in his first season as manager of the Yankees. A 15-year veteran of the big leagues, he began his career in 1989 with the Cubs, spending four seasons on the North Side before joining the Rockies in 1993. Traded to the Yankees in 1996, Girardi helped the Bronx Bombers to their first World Series championship in 18 years. The gritty catcher went on to win two more World Series in the Bronx in 1998 and '99 before returning to the Cubs for three seasons and finishing out his playing days with the Cardinals in 2003. He managed the Marlins in '06, winning the National League Manager of the Year Award in his only season in Florida.
