Add the New York Post among those who are reporting that free agent outfielder Gary Sheffield has agreed to terms on a contract with the New York Yankees, as published in Monday morning's editions.
"The Sheffield deal is done," a source told the Post. "Everything has been agreed upon. It's just a matter of when George [Steinbrenner] wants to announce it."

Rufus Williams, Sheffield's lawyer, had said that contrary to a report by Peter Gammons on ESPN.com, a deal had not been reached between the two parties. Gammons, citing sources close to Sheffield, said the slugger had agreed to a three-year pact worth between $36 million and $38 million.
"A deal is a deal when it's done," said Williams. "I haven't seen the Gammons report, but I have gotten numerous calls about it.
"We haven't concluded a deal," Williams added.
According to the ESPN.com report, Sheffield did not finalize details of the contract on Saturday, as Yankees owner George Steinbrenner was at a Tampa hospital with Billy Connors, a team vice president who underwent quadruple bypass surgery over the weekend. Gammons reports that Sheffield "has told friends the deal is done."
