Pitching matchup
NYY: RHP Mike Mussina (3-4, 5.10 ERA)
Mussina surrendered seven hits and three runs in Colorado's thin air on Tuesday, striking out six and walking two in six innings against the Rockies. Despite picking up the loss, Mussina put up his third quality start in a row. SF: LHP Noah Lowry (6-6, 3.74 ERA)
Lowry worked into the seventh inning in nine of his first 13 starts of the season, but the left-hander got knocked out after just 5 2/3 innings in his last outing against the Brewers. Lowry allowed nine hits, the most he had given up in a start this season, and Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that he left too many pitches up in the strike zone. Player to watch
Lowry has limited Bobby Abreu to two hits in nine career at-bats, but Abreu has the most experience against Lowry and has hit safely in 18 of 21 games in June. Abreu has also collected a double off a Giants starter in each of the past two games. Tickets
