NYY: RHP Mike Mussina (4-7, 4.97 ERA)
After striking out the side in the first inning, Mussina was roughed up in his last start against the Devil Rays, allowing seven hits and six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander will try to get back on track against the Royals, as he owns a career 16-6 record and a 3.30 ERA against them. KC: RHP Gil Meche (7-6, 3.63 ERA)
Meche pitched well in his last start on Friday, tossing seven innings of two-run ball against the Tigers. It was the first time the right-hander had worked more than six innings since June 15. Player to watch
Emil Brown is a career 2-for-6 against Mussina with a home run, good for a .333 average. Tickets
