NEW YORK -- The Yankees departed their Spring Training facility last year with a grand ceremony, hoisting the name of longtime owner George M. Steinbrenner onto the scoreboard overlooking left field.

Having upgraded their roster with the additions of CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Mark Teixeira, the Yankees are primed to report for their first full Grapefruit League campaign at "The Boss" with renewed expectations and optimism for the upcoming campaign.

The Yankees have announced that individual game tickets for the 2009 Spring Training slate will go on sale Friday. Tickets can be purchased beginning at 10 a.m. ET online at www.yankees.com, at the Steinbrenner Field box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (813) 287-8844 or by visiting a local Ticketmaster outlet.

Preparing for their second season under manager Joe Girardi, the Yankees will open their Grapefruit League schedule on Feb. 25 at 1:15 p.m. against the Toronto Blue Jays at Knology Park in Dunedin, Fla.

The Yankees' first home game at Tampa's Steinbrenner Field will take place on Feb. 26 at 1:15 p.m. against the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays. This marks the Yankees' 14th spring in Tampa.

New York is scheduled to play 33 Grapefruit League games, as well as hosting two home exhibition games against World Baseball Classic clubs. On March 3, the Yankees entertain Derek Jeter and Team USA, and will welcome Team Canada on March 5.

New York's three major winter additions -- Sabathia, Burnett and Teixeira -- have all said that they will not participate in the Classic, preferring to use Spring Training as an opportunity to get to know the Yankees' players and coaches.

Included in the Yankees' 16 home exhibition games against Major League competition are six night contests (all 7:15 p.m. start times) on March 6 vs. Detroit; March 10 vs. Cincinnati; March 17 vs. Pittsburgh; March 19 vs. Toronto; March 24 vs. Boston; and March 27 vs. Cincinnati.

Yankees pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Feb. 13, with their first workout slated for Feb. 14. The Yankees' first full-squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 18 and the World Baseball Classic will be played from March 5-23.
