Yankees at the plate: In the final exhibition game of the spring, Mark Teixeira led the offensive charge for the Yankees, belting his fourth and fifth home runs of the year -- and first in the new Yankee Stadium. Teixeira connected on a solo home run to right in the third inning and added a three-run shot into the short right-field porch in the fourth. Derek Jeter also hit a three-run homer to give New York the lead in the second inning, and Shelley Duncan added a solo shot in the eighth. Robinson Cano had an RBI single.
Cubs on the mound: Rich Harden had a rough conclusion to his first full spring with the Cubs, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, including two home runs to Teixeira and one to Jeter. Harden walked four and struck out two, throwing 76 pitches (41 strikes). Yankees on the mound: Andy Pettitte held the Cubs to Soriano's solo home run and six hits in all over four innings, walking one and striking out one in a 54-pitch (38 for strikes) outing. He completed his spring with an ERA of 1.17 against big league clubs. A.J. Burnett came on in the fifth and tossed four scoreless innings, with two hits, six strikeouts and one walk.
