Martinez made an indelible mark on the Yankees as the popular starting first baseman in the club's most recent dynasty era of World Series championships, while Mazzilli has a long history of service in the arena of New York baseball.
Currently a special advisor to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, Martinez has remained close to the game while serving as a baseball coach for the University of South Florida.
Originally a first-round selection (14th overall) of the Seattle Mariners in 1988, Martinez wore pinstripes from 1996-2001 and again in '05, batting .276 with 192 home runs and 739 RBIs in 1,054 regular-season games with the Yankees.
Mazzilli played 1,076 career games representing New York teams at the big league level, though only 37 of them came with the Yankees. In August 1982, he was traded by the Texas Rangers for Bucky Dent.
More known for his service across town with the Mets, Mazzilli was a lifetime .259 hitter with 93 home runs and 460 RBIs in 1,475 Major League games with the Yankees, Mets, Pirates, Rangers and Blue Jays. He was one of the former Yankees introduced on the field at the new Yankee Stadium's first regular-season game on April 16.
