Managers, rosters and schedule announced for the Brooklyn, N.Y. WBC qualifier
World Baseball Classic, Inc. (WBCI) today announced the managers, rosters and game schedule for the Brooklyn, New York WBC Qualifier, which will be played September 22nd-25th at MCU Park, home of the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Penn League. The Qualifier will feature the national teams of Brazil, Great Britain, Israel and Pakistan. The winner of the Qualifier will advance to compete in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, the fourth installment of the tournament featuring many of the world's greatest players. Earlier this year, teams from Australia, Colombia and Mexico advanced to the 2017 WBC after winning the previous three Qualifiers.
Four Minor League Players Suspended
The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that four Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that two Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Major League Baseball statement
The Office of the Commissioner has completed its investigation into the statements made by Charlie Sly concerning players Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies and Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals in the Al Jazeera documentary "The Dark Side." This thorough investigation did not find any violations of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program by either Howard or Zimmerman.
MLB Announces 2016 Class of 'RBI for RBI' College Scholarship Recipients
Major League Baseball Charities (MLB) has awarded college scholarships, each valued at $5,000 per year, to twelve graduating high school seniors who participate in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program, the Major League Baseball youth baseball and softball initiative for young people from underserved communities.
