Ty joins the Yankees 100th anniversary celebration with creation of centennial Beanie Buddy

Oak Brook, IL, Monday, July 28, 2003-- On Sunday, September 14th, Centennial the Beanie Buddy in honor of 100 years of Yankees baseball, will make its debut at Yankees Stadium. This marks the first time that Ty has produced a Beanie Buddy exclusively for a professional sports franchise bearing an official team logo. Centennial the Beanie Buddy, which will not be available for sale, will be given to the first 18,000 fans, 14 and under, attending the New York Yankees game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In Yankees blue, Centennial bears a button of the official 100th Anniversary logo on his chest and wears a white and navy pinstriped ribbon around his neck.

"The New York Yankees are very pleased that Ty created Centennial the Beanie Buddy to help us celebrate our 100th anniversary," said Deborah Tymon, Yankees Vice President of Marketing. "We are proud to provide our fans with a Ty branded plush toy to commemorate this milestone".

Centennial marks the seventh time that Ty and the New York Yankees have joined forces for a promotional giveaway. The first Ty promotion at Yankee Stadium was held on May 17, 1998, a special day in the ball club's history. On that day, David Wells pitched a perfect game, only the second such feat in Yankees history and ninth in Major League Baseball history, and Valentino the Beanie Baby.. was given away. Today, Valentino, along with a ball from this historic game, now sits in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
