The New York Yankees announced today that they have signed free agent right-handed pitcher Scott Erickson to a one-year Minor-League contract with an invitation to spring training.
Erickson, 38, went 1-4 with a 6.02 ERA in 19 games (eight starts) with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005 after earning a spot in the rotation during spring training. Originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1989, Erickson owns a career record of 142-136 with an ERA of 4.57. He was a member of the Twins' championship squad in 1991 and finished second in the American League Cy Young Award voting that year after leading the league with 20 wins. He has pitched in 380 career games (364 starts) with the Twins (1990-95), Baltimore Orioles (1995-2003), New York Mets (2004), Texas Rangers (2004) and the Dodgers (2005).
