The New York Yankees announced today that the U.S. Military Baseball Team will visit the Yankees' Latin Béisbol Academy in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, during the morning of April 24 to join Yankees players for a workout. The military team is taking part in the Armed Forces' "Baseball Diplomacy" program in conjunction with the United States Embassy, the Dominican Armed Forces and National Police Sporting Club, and the Dominican Baseball Federation.

Following the training session, coaches from the academy will join U.S. military players at Ensanche Luperon, in Santo Domingo, to give a baseball clinic to local children. Martin Valerio, the Yankees' Academy Operations Director, will also talk to the youngsters about opportunities outside of baseball.

"As proud members of the community in the Dominican Republic, the Yankees are happy to be able to provide our facilities to the great initiative that is Baseball Diplomacy," said Yankees Senior Vice President Felix M. Lopez, Jr. "Opening our doors to the great men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as providing much needed clinics to the local youth in the country, is something the Yankees are looking forward to doing."

The Yankees will also send coaches and scouts to participate in a clinic on April 26 at the Olympic Center, also in Santo Domingo.
