Torii Hunter of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Ivan Rodriguez of the New York Yankees have been disciplined for the on-field incident that occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning of Monday night's game at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Both Hunter and Rodriguez have received two-game suspensions and undisclosed fines for their violent and inappropriate actions. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Unless appealed, the suspensions of both players are scheduled to begin today, when the Yankees and the Angels conclude their series. If appealed, the suspensions of both players will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
In addition, Angels pitcher John Lackey has been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in Monday's game.
