Rodriguez heard it from the Bronx faithful back on May 9, when he went 0-for-3 and committed two errors. He won back the fans the next night with a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run off Curt Schilling."They expect a lot out of me -- and they should," the reigning AL MVP said. "So do I. No one in this world expects more out of me than me." "He's one of the greatest players ever," teammate Johnny Damon said. "He wants to live up to that billing every single time." Rodriguez drove in three or more runs five times during the month, and he was second in the league with 67 total bases. And to make it even sweeter for New York, he beat out Mark Loretta of rival Boston for the honor. The Red Sox second baseman batted a Major League-best .404 in May.
