Steinbrenner plans to attend Opening Day
Yankees will celebrate 2009 championship on April 13

Yankees co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner told The Associated Press that "the plan" is for his father to attend the home opener against the Angels on April 13, the first game played in the Bronx since Game 6 of the Fall Classic against the Phillies.
The 79-year-old "Boss" was in his box at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Saturday for the Yankees' 5-3 Grapefruit League win over the Orioles. He ceded day-to-day control of the franchise to his sons, Hal and Hank, at the end of the 2007 season.
A regular presence during most of his time owning the franchise since its purchase from CBS in 1973, Steinbrenner has been rarely seen at Yankee Stadium in recent years.
He rode onto the field in a golf cart for the 2008 All-Star Game and attended the first two games of the '09 World Series.
