Brosius, who won three World Series titles with the Yankees (1998-2000), is entering his fourth season at the helm of Linfield College, his alma mater. In his first three seasons with Linfield College, Brosius has led the Wildcats to a 100-38 record, including two regional titles. Brosius' 18U team will compete in the 18U Pan American Baseball Championships in Colombia beginning in September.
Brosius won't be the only Major League veteran on the 18U staff. Brian McRae will return as one of the team's assistant coaches for the second straight summer. In addition, Major League Scouting Bureau scout Willie Romay will also return as an assistant coach. Aldo Plata will serve as the team's athletic trainer this season.
"Scott will be a significant addition to the 18U program," USA Baseball 18U national director Brant Ust said in a written statement. "We're excited to see him teamed with two veterans of the program in Brian and Willie, and to provide our young athletes with his knowledge, perspective and leadership, both on and off the field."
Brosius, who spent 11 seasons in the Majors with the Yankees and Athletics, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1998 World Series. He retired from playing at the end of the 2001 season.
