Corona was outrighted to the roster of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, an assignment that he accepted. The 24-year-old infielder, a .259 hitter over seven Minor League seasons, missed all of 2011 while recovering from a fractured right elbow.
Chamberlain, 26, was lost for the season in June to Tommy John surgery after going 2-0 with a 2.83 ERA in 27 relief appearances for New York. Chamberlain has been rehabbing near the Pensacola, Fla. offices of Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery, and hopes to begin throwing off a mound next spring.
"I feel very fortunate and blessed to be ahead of schedule," Chamberlain said last month while visiting the Yankees in New York. "It feels good to throw."
Maxwell, 27, had been sidelined with a right shoulder injury. He batted .260 with 16 home runs and 16 RBIs in 48 games at Triple-A this year, Maxwell's first in the Yankees system after being acquired from the Nationals in February for right-hander Adam Olbrychowski.
The Yankees' Major League roster now stands at 39.
