Yankees' Path to the Postseason: Sept. 30, 2012

With the loss and the O's winning, there is again a tie for first place in the AL East.
"I don't worry about that," the Yankees' Nick Swisher said. "I know that if we play the way we're capable of playing, everything takes care of itself. Tonight was kind of a little lull, but we'll be back here tomorrow bright and early, ready to go."
The Yankees have four games remaining on the regular-season schedule -- one more with Phil Hughes on the mound in Toronto on Sunday, their final road game of the year, and then a three-game series at Yankee Stadium against the Red Sox.
"You've got to find a way to put today behind you, go out and swing the bats tomorrow, score a bunch of runs, give Hughesy run support and win a game," manager Joe Girardi said.
The Orioles will wrap up their home schedule on Sunday, then travel to Tropicana Field, where they will play Games 160-162 against the Rays.

This is how the teams would match up: Postseason Bracket »
To calculate a team's magic number, take the number of games it has remaining and add one. Then subtract the difference in the number of losses between that team and its closest pursuer.
A tiebreaker game will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head-to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
If two clubs are tied for the two Wild Card berths, home-field advantage will be determined by the head-to-head record between the clubs. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
