NEW YORK, NY (November 5, 2013) - New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and his wife, Amber, will lead an adventurous scavenger hunt through New York City's Central Park in search of clues that will lead contestants to the finish line and the coveted CC Cup as part of the annual CC Challenge slated for Saturday, November 9, 2013, beginning at noon to benefit the PitCCh In Foundation.
CC Challenge participants will compete in a team format that will start from the Plaza Hotel and take to the streets in Manhattan to benefit the lives of inner city youth. "Amber and I look forward to the CC Challenge all year because it's so much fun and it's for such a great cause. I have no doubt that there will be some tough clues and some surprises along the way, but it will be a blast for everyone and, more importantly, it will help kids in need," said CC Sabathia.
Many corporate sponsors have stepped in to support the CC Challenge that is at full capacity with 30 sponsored teams including the New York Yankees, Brand Jordan, Apollo Jets, Lawns by Yorkshire, Metropolitan Realty Group LLC., EmpireCLS, Goldman Sachs, Roc Nation, Dusse Cognac, and Strikeouts For Troops®, who will field a team of U.S. service members as part of a salute to Veterans Day weekend. PitCCh In is sponsoring three teams of teens from the Columbus Clubhouse of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club and a family supported by the Sabathias following Hurricane Sandy.
"We love the CC Challenge, and this year has a special meaning because we postponed our event last year to help families in need during the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Many of our friends joined with us to help families in Hoboken to deliver warm clothes, food, diapers and baby supplies. It was a very difficult and heartfelt time for us all," said Amber Sabathia.
The Sabathias will be active on Twitter throughout the Challenge, tweeting out photos and clues and giving followers the chance to win giveaway items. Fans can participate by following @CC_Sabathia, @AmberSabathia and @PitCChInFdn while using the hashtag #CCChallenge.
"When you get this many people together at the same place and for the same cause of helping children, it's sure to be fun, and I can't wait," said CC Sabathia.
The CC Challenge official rules party will take place on Friday, November 8, 2013, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All participants and celebrity guests will walk the red carpet to the LUXE Lounge at Lucky Strike in Manhattan.
