Montgomery is expected to join the Cubs on Friday in Milwaukee while Pries will report to Triple-A Iowa.

    The Chicago Cubs today activated catcher David Ross off of the seven-day concussion disabled list and activated left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard off of the 15-day disabled list. Right-handed pitcher Trevor Cahill has been placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 9) with patellar tendinitis in his right knee and infielder Munenori Kawasaki was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. In addition, right-handed pitcher Joel Peralta has cleared waivers and elected free agency.
