Mariners earn split
The Mariners used single runs in the eighth and ninth innings on Monday night, including a solo homer by Adrian Beltre off Mariano Rivera, to earn the series split in New York. Starter Miguel Batista pitched 6 1/3 solid innings, and George Sherrill got the win in relief. J.J. Putz collected his seventh save.
