Rookie Ian Kennedy didn't earn the win on Friday night, but he kept the Royals quiet for five innings before Kyle Farnsworth, Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera took over with four innings of scoreless relief. Alex Rodriguez's 49th homer of the season was his fifth off Gil Meche.
