Mariano Rivera yielded the decisive run on a wild pitch in the ninth after the Yanks had rallied to tie the opener vs. the Royals a frame earlier. A late rally fizzled when pinch-runner Justin Christian was picked off, as New York fell for the sixth time in seven games.
