With a walk-off homer in the ninth inning, Hideki Matsui sealed the Yankees' 17th win in 22 games and helped lift them into a first-place tie with the Red Sox. In escaping a two-on, one-out jam in the eighth after Andy Pettitte left, the Yanks recorded two critical outs at home.
