Even before the Yankees' eight-run eighth inning, CC Sabathia was well on his way to a seventh win in as many decisions, but when Hideki Matsui homered two innings after breaking a tie, he set off a barrage of late insurance that pushed New York back to 40 games over the .500 mark.
