The Yankees allowed five homers, with four coming off Sergio Mitre. New York provided some fireworks of its own in the eighth, when Jorge Posada, who had a pitch thrown behind him, scored on Brett Gardner's double and bumped into reliever Jesse Carlson. Both Posada and Carlson were ejected after the ensuing fracas.
Accardo pitched to 1 batter in the 8th. Mitre pitched to 3 batters in the 6th.
