Yankees Homestand News
Dear Season Ticket Licensee:

Opening Day is finally here. Things are busy in the Bronx as we complete our preparations for the 2013 Home Opener against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, April 1, at 1:05 p.m. On behalf of the entire Yankees organization, I would like to express our gratitude for your support and share our excitement as we begin the quest for our 28th World Series Championship.

As your Yankees representative, I would like to provide you with some relevant information about the first homestand.
Yankees Opeing Series
HOME OPENER - Monday, April 1:
  • Gates open at 11 a.m.
  • Festivities will begin at 12:30 p.m.
  • The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Lou Piniella, who will be honored with the "Pride of the Yankees Award" at the 2013 Homecoming Dinner following the Opening Day game.
  • The Yankees and the Red Sox will stand together in dedicating the 2013 Opening Day game to the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting, their families and the greater community of Newtown.
  • The Yankees and Red Sox will also wear a special ribbon on their uniforms for Opening Day to honor those lost and those affected by the tragedy.
Please budget ample time when planning your trip to Yankee Stadium, and consider using public transportation.

OPENING DAY FUN FACT:
The Yankees have won 11 straight Opening Day games when playing at home dating to 1986…last lost an Opening Day game at home in 1982 vs. the White Sox (7-6 in 12 innings)…according to the Elias Sports Bureau, it ties the all-time Major League mark held by the Mets, who won 11 straight such Openers from 1971-89.
