2013 marks the Tigers 77th season in Lakeland, extending the longest-lasting relationship between a major league baseball team and a current Spring Training host city. The Detroit Tigers began coming to Lakeland for Spring Training in 1934 and have been coming back each year ever since.

The 2013 spring season also marks the club's 48th consecutive season of exhibition play at Joker Marchant Stadium in Tiger Town. Tiger Town is the Spring Training headquarters for the Detroit Tigers and the regular season home of its minor league farm team in the Class A Florida State League, the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Tiger Town is owned and operated by the City of Lakeland. The City of Lakeland's Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining the facilities.

Named in honor of the late Joker Marchant, Lakeland's former parks and recreation director, Joker Marchant Stadium was used by the Detroit Tigers for Spring Training for the first time in 1966 at which time it contained seating for 4,900 spectators. Expansion projects undertaken in the early 1970's and the addition of new grandstands in 1988 and further enhancements in 2003 brought the stadium capacity to its current capacity of 8,000 seats. This does not include an estimated 1,000 lawn seats out on the berm.

Parking

In an effort to speed up the parking process the city of Lakeland and Detroit Tigers are offering the opportunity to purchase parking passes in advance.

There are four entrances. First from the east off of Lakeland Hill Blvd. is Kaline Drive. Second from the north off of Grenada Street is Horton Way. And the third and fourth entrances are from the south off E. Bella Vista St. and are Gilmore Ave and Lake Drive respectively.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available on the first base side of Joker Marchant Stadium. No special parking pass is required. Fans must have a valid handicap license tag or sticker.

Take I-4 West towards Tampa to the CR-582 exit, EXIT 33. Turn left onto CR-582 S/N. Socrum Loop Road. Go under the overpass and veer to the right, turning onto SR-33, also known as Lakeland Hills Blvd. Joker Marchant Stadium is located approximately 2 miles on the left hand side of the street.

From Tampa

Take I-4 East towards Orlando to the US-98 S exit, EXIT 32. Turn right onto US 98 S/South Florida Avenue. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Griffin Road. Turn right at the second traffic light onto Lakeland Hills Blvd. Joker Marchant Stadium is located approximately ½ mile on the left hand side of the street.

From the South (Bartow/Mulberry)

From Bartow
Take S. Broadway Ave./US-98 N. approximately 12 miles to Massachusetts Avenue. Turn right on to Massachusetts Avenue/Lakeland Hills Blvd. Joker Marchant Stadium is located approximately 1 ½ miles on the right hand side.

From Mulberry
Take SR-37 N./N. Church Avenue (will turn into S. Florida Avenue) approximately 13 miles. Turn right onto Memorial Blvd. (Stop completely behind the white line at the red light to avoid receiving a traffic citation). Turn left at the first traffic light onto Lakeland Hills Blvd. Joker Marchant Stadium is located approximately 1 mile on the right hand side of the street.

From the East (Winter Haven)

Take 6th Street north to SR-544 West. Make a left onto SR-544 West. Follow SR-544 West 3 miles and make a slight left turn onto US-92 W. Take US-92 approximately 11 miles to Lakeland Hills Blvd. Turn right onto Lakeland Hills Blvd. Joker Marchant Stadium is located approximately 1 mile on the right hand side of the street.
