CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Valera enters his second season as the D-backs' Major League Coach, assisting in on-field operations and as a liaison to the Latin players, and fifth overall in the organization.
• Enters his second season as a Major League coach...will support the staff and players in all facets, including effectively communicating with Latin players, serving as a working coach with infielders, assisting with all pre-game and batting practice duties and charting and tracking information during the game.
• Served as the D-backs' Dominican Summer League third base and infield coach from 2008-10.
• Was the Minnesota Twins' Dominican Summer League
hitting and infield coach in 1996.
• Was the San Francisco Giants' bullpen catcher from 1989-93...served in the same capacity with the Cincinnati
Reds from 1994-95.
• Played in the Minor League systems for the Cleveland Indians from 1982-85, New York Mets from 1986-87
and Chicago White Sox in 1988.
• Signed with the Cleveland Indians as an undrafted free agent in 1981...signed by Luis Isaac.
