2007 Most Valuable Pupil Field Trip

The 2007 Most Valuable Pupil Field Trip, presented by the Safeway Foundation and co-sponsored by the Washington Post and Southwest Airlines, hosted over 3,000 middle school and junior high school students at RFK Stadium for the exhibition game between the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles. Workbooks distributed at the event taught the children about math, science, history, health and fitness in the context of the game of baseball. Students were given a complete package of tickets, transportation, lunch and the workbooks as a reward for meeting attendance, citizenship and academic goals set by the principal of each of DC's 20 middle and junior high public schools.
